Upcoming Civil War 150 Events at the Dennison Depot

American Soldiers Homecoming Festival With battle reenactments, contests and a Civil War theme you won’t want to miss the excitement of this honorable tribute. Among some of the other activities will include an old fashioned mess hall, entertainment, The Ohio Flags of Honor and complete WWII trench and bunker systems.

New to the Soldiers Festival this year: Ed Bearss 

 A former Chief Historian for the National Park Service, and winner
of the Harry S. Truman Award and the Nevins Freeman Award for Civil
War scholarship. He supervised the raising of the Ironclad Cairo, now
on display at Vicksburg National Military Park. He has written over a
dozen books, numerous articles, and is the editor of Gettysburg
Magazine. Mr. Bearss is a combat veteran of the Pacific Theater during
the Second World War.

Bearss will be doing 3 speaking engagements at the Soldiers Fest! Be sure to come hear about Ohio’s 51st Infantry (Civil War) and his experiences in WWII

BE A PART OF THE COMMEMORATION!!!
2011 Marks the beginning of a 4 year Commemoration of the Civil War. AmeriCorps, the Ohio Community Service Council and the Ohio Historical Society have teamed up with the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum to bring a Civil War 150 Regional Coordinator right to Tuscarawas County. Kate McFadden, hosted at the Depot is working with organizations not only in Tuscarawas County but surrounding areas as well.
